3Q08 Global Wireless Infrastructure Revenues for Top OEMs Grew to $12.2B

(Business News & Technology News, 18 Nov 2008)

The global wireless BTS infrastructure market revenues for the top OEMs grew by 3.7 percent for the third quarter of 2008 to $12.2 billion compared with the third quarter of 2007, according to the latest study by market research firm EJL Wireless Research.

"The market experienced a decline on a sequential basis of 12 percent as all wireless equipment vendors were impacted by the Summer Olympic Games in China," says Earl Lum, President and founder of EJL Wireless Research. "Given the undeniable decline in capex spending by mobile operators due to the global financial crisis, we believe that weakness could continue into the fourth quarter and that overall revenues in may be flat to down 1 percent to 2 percent for 2008 compared with our prior outlook of 5 percent to 7 percent growth.

According to Lum, as Huawei Technologies is the only company not represented in this financial analysis, he believes that the results offer a realistic snapshot for the industry on how the overall market is progressing for 2008.
