XipLink Announces Software Version 2.7

(Product News, 17 Nov 2008)

Xiplink has launched its Software Version 2.7, which includes substantial improvements to XipLink's high performance data compression algorithms and can boast bandwidth gains of 200 percent or more for most data types.

XipLink wireless optimization solutions are based on IETF standards in combination with the Space Communications Protocol Standards (SCPS), ensuring government and military organizations of multi-vendor interoperability. Unlike traditional enterprise solutions, wireless optimization is typically installed where it can closely bracket a space or terrestrial wireless segment and is completely transparent to end users, requiring no tunnel configurations or middleware which are difficult to support remotely.

In addition to adding a new high performance data compression algorithm, Software Version 2.7 also supports IP Version 6, a critical requirement for U.S. Government and Military operators today.

"One underlying capability where we focused significant engineering manpower is in the area of our Active Resource Manager, a key software component that dynamically balances the optimal combination of protocol acceleration; the selection of data compression algorithm; Internet optimization functions; and future capabilities, based on the immediate network load and the CPU and memory of the device where our software is installed," says Charlie Younghusband, Senior Vice President, Product Development.

Software Version 2.7 also delivers improvements to the Graphical User interface that simplifies installation and trouble-shooting. XipLink offers one of the industry's most robust selection of wireless rate control and congestion control algorithms, and by using these new diagnostic tools and performance reports, network operators can easily fine-tune each device to achieve the absolute maximum bandwidth gains.

Software Version 2.7 will be shipping on all XA-Series wireless optimization appliances. The XA-Series are performance matched industrial computing engines that scale from lower cost systems at 400kbps to very high performance systems running at 155Mbps and more than 30,000 simultaneous connections.

XipLink's XE-Series now supports Software Version 2.7 for embedded wireless optimization in BSD, Linux or Windows environments while operating in limited CPU and memory. Also included in the embedded product line is the XE-104, a PC-104 form factor Single Board Computer that can be easily installed in modular hardware systems.
