GCT's Single-Chip 2.5GHz Mobile Subscriber Station Reference Design Receives Mobile WiMAX Certification

(Product News, 4 Sep 2008)

GCT Semiconductor's Mobile WiMAX 2.5GHz single-chip GDM7205K, which integrates RF, MAC and PHY into one monolithic integrated circuit, is now WiMAX Forum Certified. GDM7205K supports broadband mobile, portable, nomadic and fixed WiMAX applications.

Based on GCT's CMOS radio frequency (RF) technology, GDM7205K offers a highly integrated, low-power transceiver which minimizes the number of external RF front-end components. It also includes a Mobile WiMAX baseband with high performance dual-processors and an impressive array of peripherals for connectivity. GDM7205K satisfies the high processing demands of multimedia data processing and wireless connectivity while minimizing power consumption.

GDM7205K is said to be the first and only single-chip reference design to become WiMAX Forum Certified. Independent certification testing was performed by the Telecommunications Technology Association's (TTA) Information Technology (IT) Testing & Certification Lab, a WiMAX Forum designated certification lab. GCT has submitted additional single-chip WiMAX solutions for WiMAX Forum certification.
