EJL Wireless Research Predicts 12 Million TD-SCDMA Subscribers by 2012

(Business News & Technology News, 11 Aug 2008)

EJL Wireless Research forecasts that TD-SCDMA subscribers in China will reach 12 million by 2012, and overall mobile terminal shipments will equal 11.5 million units by 2012.

"ZTE secured 27 percent of total TD-SCDMA handsets awards while Guangzhou New Postcom has captured 23 percent of handsets for 2008. Non-domestic Chinese handset suppliers have won only 13 percent of total handset awards and no data card awards. Chinese equipment giant Huawei Technologies has only won less than 1 percent of total handset unit volumes so far," says Earl Lum, Founder and President of EJL Wireless Research.

"With a new tender for infrastructure base station equipment expected in Q3 from China Mobile, we believe that both ZTE and Alcatel-Datang will again be awarded the largest market shares for this tender," says Lum.
