Axesstel Inc. has released the EU230 HSUPA Mini ExpressCard/34 for High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) networks. The EU230 Mini Card enables mobile broadband access to advanced HSUPA networks from any device with ExpressCard/34 slot, USB connector, or Wi-Fi capability (using an additional Smart kit), and allows speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.
The modem is said to be the company's first UMTS-based product and is one of the dozen new devices it will be launching this year. The ExpressCard expands Axesstel's product portfolio beyond 3G to WCDMA/HSPA networks and increases the company's addressable markets.
The EU230 is adaptable to various uses. It works with devices containing ExpressCard/34 Slot type and can connect to standard USB ports with a USB adaptor. An additional Smart kit that includes Wi-Fi and backup battery quickly converts the EU230 to an access point and creates a small hotspot. An embedded antenna supports tri-band UMTS/HSDPA frequencies and features receive diversity for optimized device performance and user experience.
