Qualcomm, MYWAVE Electronics Sign WCDMA and TD-SCDMA Module/modem Card License Agreement

(Business News & Technology News, 30 Jul 2008)

Qualcomm Inc. and MYWAVE Electronics S.p.A. have entered into a module/modem card patent license agreement, under which Qualcomm has granted MYWAVE a worldwide license to develop, manufacture and sell modem cards and modules implementing the WCDMA and/or TD-SCDMA standards. The royalties payable by MYWAVE are at Qualcomm's standard worldwide rates and are the same irrespective of which CDMA standard is implemented by the module or modem card.

"This license agreement with MYWAVE demonstrates Qualcomm's commitment to enabling a dynamic and competitive mobile marketplace in Europe and throughout the rest of the world by continuing to grow its list of diverse licensees," says Marvin Blecker, President of Qualcomm Technology Licensing. "MYWAVE will now add 3G CDMA capabilities to their current wireless product offerings, increasing the choices available to European consumers and businesses to stay connected no matter where they are."

"This license agreement to Qualcomm's patented technologies, the key innovations driving 3G CDMA, provides MYWAVE with the ability to fulfill consumer demand for mobility and high-speed data access," says Corrado Martuscelli, General Manager of MYWAVE. "Europe is experiencing rapid growth of 3G CDMA subscribers and as this growth continues in the region and worldwide, the addition of 3G modules and modem cards to our line of products will offer our customers more complete solutions to enable them to stay connected while on the go."
