Compact ZigBee Network Module Measures 12.7x25.4x2.5mm

(Product News, 4 Jul 2008)

Radiocrafts AS has expanded its product line with a compact ZigBee Network Module (ZNM)—the RC2300-ZNM—for use in ZigBee based mesh networks. The module offers the complete ZigBee network protocol in a small module with an easy to use API interface. By using the new ZNM module, ZigBee applications can be built with minimum effort, reducing time to market.

The module is designed for operation in the 2.45GHz licence-free band. Available in dimensions of 12.7x25.4x2.5mm, the RC2300-ZNM module includes EMC shielding and integrated antenna. The device is said to be the smallest all-embedded module designed for ZigBee available in the market. .

The RC2300-ZNM module is pre-certified for operation under the European, FCC and ARIB radio regulations for license-free use. It operates at 16 channels in the 2.45GHz frequency band. When used with quarter-wave antennas, a line-of-sight range of 250m can be achieved. Indoor range is typically 10m to 30m. A high power module with extended range will be available shortly. The module is designed for use in battery operated systems using sleep mode with less than 1µA.
