COMMUNICASIA 2008: Juni Demonstrates Remote Monitoring Solutions
(Business News & Technology News, 19 Jun 2008)
Femtocells and repeaters provider Juni is demonstrating this week its latest web-based remote monitoring solutions, the Operations & Maintenance Centre (OMC), at the CommunicAsia 2008 trade event here in Singapore, June 17 to 20.
The OMC software allows network operators to manage their network elements, such as repeaters and other devices requiring management. Because all operating parameters of the network element can be monitored and controlled by the OMC remotely, site visits to installation locations are virtually eliminated.
"The Juni OMC is a super powerful tool that allows complete control and monitoring of network elements," says Mark Johnson, COO at Juni. "Our latest web-based OMC features comprehensive set of tools to control, monitor alarms and generate reports and statistics. This allows the remote troubleshooting and analysis of any problem site using a standard web browser and almost eliminates the need for on-site attendance. This fact alone should appeal to network operators who understand the importance of reducing costs in an ever increasing competitive environment."
The OMC includes comprehensive reporting functions, and a higher level northbound alarm reporting system using SNMP protocol is included. "Notification by pager or SMS text message are also options for Front line Network Operators staff while reports such as alarm and status history can be exported to MS ExcelTM or text files for more detailed analysis," says Johnson. Because the OMC client uses a web browser, network operators can access the system wherever there is an internet connection, and no additional programs are required. The OMC server is also connected to a database that stores data for later reference.
