COMMUNICASIA 2008: Appear TV to Demonstrate Compact 1RU Head-end Solutions

Appear TV, a provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, will be showcasing its 1RU compact product solutions at the coming CommunicAsia 2008 trade show on June 17 to 20 in Singapore. Featuring a number of enhanced features, the new design allows for an increased variety of input and output interfaces on both the front and the back of the unit, enabling the customer to tailor the product to its own specific operational needs.

Developed to be used as a decoder, modulator, format convertor, processing unit or FM Radio solution, Appear TV's 1RU series multipurpose platform is suitable for all kinds of networks, both wireless and fixed. The unit can adequately meet a number of applications in areas such as IPTV, DVB-C, DVB-T and DVBS/ S2 and is innovatively controlled by a web-based management system. The variety of modules available enables operators to combine all the technical functionalities required to effectively distribute content using one compact unit.

Visitors will be able to view demonstrations of Appear TV's range of products and services at three main display stations, including:

Digital video streaming and multiplexing
Flexible and compact head-ends with digital video streaming and multiplexing for cable and IPTV operators. Appear TV's SC2000/SC2100 IP Streamer is a compact and manageable solution for IPTV operators, which now includes a new DVB-S2 module.

Decoding with RF modulation and FM radio
Enabling operators to effectively offer analogue services over existing coax networks via a digital backbone.

Scrambling and descrambling
The ultimate high performance, compact systems, integrated with major CA systems and combined with a number of interfaces as well as multiple source reception, with high throughput descrambling capabilities.

All of Appear TV's chassis set-ups that will be demonstrated at CommunicAsia feature the company's recently launched redundancy software solution, which feature an "always-on" intelligent software core that provides any operator using IP for video distribution with huge benefits in terms of quality and network efficiency through high up-time and low down-time. Appear TV's solutions are also designed to provide automatic backup in case of service stream failure anywhere on an operator's network without requiring complex control software running on separate servers.
