Columbitech Launches Industry-first Eco-friendly Mobile VPN

(Product News, 10 Jun 2008)

Mobile VPN security software provider Columbitech has launched what is said to be the industry's first environment-friendly mobile VPN solution on the market for wireless networks. Columbitech's mobile VPN conserves energy by extending the lifetime of existing legacy mobile devices and servers, reducing the amount of battery power needed to operate mobile devices and providing secure remote access to the corporate network—making telecommuting a viable option. Using Columbitech's mobile VPN, businesses can improve productivity and security while enhancing the environmental effectiveness of their IT departments with an eco-friendly mobile solution.

Columbitech's mobile VPN requires 40 percent less battery power than the traditional VPN, and enables mobile devices to run for a considerably longer amount of time. Unlike other products, Columbitech's mobile VPN is a software-based only solution, which supports virtualization with no need for additional servers to be installed. This provides both energy savings and lower capital expenses due to more efficient use of the hardware resources.

Additionally, Columbitech's solution is the only VPN that secures wireless legacy equipment. It considerably extends the lifetime of hardware, preventing companies from expensive "rip and replace" scenarios.

Columbitech mobile VPN also enables businesses to offer safe, remote access to the corporate network by providing connectivity and session persistence—making telecommuting a feasible option. With strong authentication and encryption, remote workers can transmit confidential data securely to the corporate network regardless of location.
