COMMUNICASIA 2008: Andrew to Showcase Expanded Product Portfolio for Operators to Connect, Optimize and Grow their Wireless Networks

(Business News & Technology News, 4 Jun 2008)

Andrew Wireless Solutions, a CommScope Inc. division that focuses on communications systems and products, will be exhibiting its whole range of products and solutions at the coming CommunicAsia 2008, which will be held in Singapore on June 17 to 20.

"With the rapid economic development across Asia-Pacific, consumers in both mature and developing markets continue to demand access to new and faster connectivity solutions," says Ben Cardwell, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific, Andrew. "While these markets will evolve dynamically with their own unique challenges, both new and established operators share a common goal of connecting users at the lowest possible costs without compromising on efficiency, optimizing their networks with maximum control and coverage, and growing their customer base to accelerate revenues.

Andrew's participation at CommunicAsia 2008 will showcase several exciting solutions, including its expanded portfolio of WiMAX and location-based services, that will enhance operators' ability to roll out more wireless services, extend their reach, and realize new business opportunities in areas where cost might have been prohibitive in the past.

Connect, Optimize, Grow
Under the theme of "Connect, Optimize, Grow," Andrew will show how its leading products and solutions can help operators connect users at lowest possible capital expenditures, optimize their network efficiency and control, and grow their customer base with innovative and reliable services.

Visitors to Andrew's booth will also see cutting-edge products and solutions from the Wireless Innovations Group set in a realistic train tunnel display, highlighting how operators can extend and boost network performance even in low-coverage areas such as tunnels and underground structures.

In addition, Martin Dawson, chief product architect, Wireless Network Solutions, Andrew, will speak at the seminar on 17 June on "Delivering Location-Based Services across Both Mobile and VoIP Networks with Location Information Servers".

Product Highlights
In addition, Andrew will showcase the following products and solutions at its booth:
- Teletilt Remote Control Variable Electrical Downtilt Antenna System
This system allows operators to optimize their networks from anywhere in the world by making antenna adjustments remotely without site downtime or costly tower crews. Now compliant with Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) 1.1 and 2.0 modes, this system is compatible with more existing and future tower equipment, translating into increased cost savings for wireless operators, who can avoid replacing Teletilt components during new technology roll outs or upgrades at their cell sites.

- Node A Radio Frequency Enhancer
This single unit extends outdoor frequency bands in indoor environments and supports a combination of narrowband channels and individual band segments, providing wireless operators with a cost-effective alternative to installing new base stations, performing the same function but at lower costs.

- Smooth-Wall Aluminium Cables and EZfit Series Connectors
These aluminium transmission line cables improve network performance through an innovative smooth-wall cable design, which are lighter weight and more flexible. Installed with EZfit® Series Connectors, which only require a hand prep tool, providing superior performance and handling.

- OneBase InSite
This site monitoring tool is comprised of two primary components, Insite Connect and Insite RF, that will help operators prevent minor problems from turning into major disruptions, saving them money by avoiding costly dispatches of emergency repair crews and helping maintain customer satisfaction.

InSite Connect acts as the central notification center for site alarms and status information, and it supports remote configuration adjustments and tower equipment maintenance, among its many capabilities.

InSite RF is a stand-alone unit capable of running site tests automatically according to a schedule or in real-time. It can take readings on antenna return loss, uplink and downlink VSWR, pilot power, and other site metrics and will notify radio frequency technicians via alarms when performance is at or nearing sub-par levels.
