WiChorus Chosen by MOEA to Help Promote Taiwan's WiMAX Industry Development

(Business News & Technology News, 30 May 2008)

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in Taiwan has chosen WiChorus to demonstrate its SmartCore Platforms alongside Taiwanese vendors as part of a strategic initiative to promote the development of the WiMAX industry in the country.

The demonstration is taking place at the WiMAX Solutions Pavilion organized by M-Taiwan at the WiMAX Forum Operator's summit taking place in Taipei from June 2 to 6. WiChorus will be demonstrating the end-to-end WiMAX functionality, seamless handoff, advanced content management and service differentiation capabilities of its Access Service Node (ASN) Gateway and Home Agent products. The company will also demonstrate interoperability with key Taiwanese equipment vendors.

The Taiwanese government has allocated significant resources to build the WiMAX ecosystem. Through its M-Taiwan Initiative, Taiwan will deploy broadband wireless infrastructure and life-style applications based on WiMAX technology. The government allocated $300 million for WiMAX-related investment under the M-Taiwan project, which runs through 2008.
