MOSAID Grants First Wireless Patent Portfolio License to Matsushita Electric
(Business News & Technology News, 29 Apr 2008)
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd (Matsushita), best known for its Panasonic brand, is the first company to take a license to MOSAID Technologies Inc.'s wireless patents. Under the terms of the patent portfolio license agreement, Matsushita has been granted a six-and-a-half year term license under MOSAID's wireless patents for its Wi-Fi, WiMAX and CDMA-enabled notebook PCs and other products sold globally, with the exception of mobile handsets.
"Our license agreement with Matsushita is the first signed under this wireless patent portfolio since we acquired it from Agere Systems, now LSI Corp., just over a year ago, and is a milestone event that confirms the strength and breadth of the portfolio," says John Lindgren, President and CEO, MOSAID. "With this agreement, we continue to deliver on our financial and operational objectives for fiscal 2008, which include signing both wireless and semiconductor patent licenses."
"In 2002, Matsushita took a license to MOSAID's memory patent portfolio, and we now welcome them as the first licensee to our new wireless patent portfolio," says Michael Vladescu, Vice President, Licensing and Intellectual Property, MOSAID. "Our objective is to realize full value for the company's wireless patent portfolio by licensing these patents for use in a wide range of wireless-enabled products, including notebook PCs, handsets, gaming products, access points, cameras and printers, as well as wireless infrastructure equipment."
