Qualcomm and S-Fone to Launch Advanced Data Services in the Vietnam Wireless Market

(Business News & Technology News, 16 Apr 2008)

Qualcomm Inc. has announced an agreement with Vietnamese operator S-Fone to launch BREW services on S-Fone's CDMA network, enabling its subscribers to shop for and download a wide variety of value-added services. Examples of content available through BREW include music, ringtones, information, sports updates, games and financial applications. Qualcomm also will provide S-Fone with a hosted data service, which will enable S-Fone to bring these services to their customers quickly.

"Qualcomm is committed to providing global operators with products and services that differentiate their offerings and engage their subscribers to discover and download compelling mobile content," says Bob Briggs, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm Internet Services and General Manager of BREW. "S-Fone is clearly an operator that appreciates the long-term benefits advanced data services can provide to subscribers. Their decision to launch BREW services in Vietnam is a testament to S-Fone's forward-thinking service strategies."

"S-Fone is constantly looking for ways to innovate and differentiate our service offerings, and our decision to offer compelling applications and services through the BREW solution is an example of these efforts," said Ho Hong Son, Managing Director for S-Fone. "Qualcomm's ability to provide us with both the services needed to quickly bring to market data offerings through its hosted services and the compelling content we can offer through BREW provides us with an excellent opportunity to drive the Vietnamese mobile market forward."

Qualcomm Internet Services enables mobile retailing solutions and Internet services that accelerate consumer adoption and usage of mobile data worldwide for its operator, brand and affinity and content provider customers. BREW and BrandXtend are comprehensive solutions for customers seeking to bring high-value wireless services to market and enhance the mobile experience for consumers.
