Agilent Technologies and NextWave Wireless Accelerate Mobile WiMAX Device Production, Deployment

(Business News & Technology News, 3 Apr 2008)

NextWave Wireless Inc. will use Agilent Technologies Inc.'s Wireless Networking Test Set to help accelerate the deployment of Mobile WiMAX devices based on NextWave's chipsets. The two companies will collaborate to optimize the speed of RF power-calibration and production-test capabilities for customers designing Mobile WiMAX products based on NextWave's recently announced NW2000 chipset. With Agilent's optimized support of this chipset, manufacturers can calibrate and test WiMAX devices with the greatest speed and efficiency.

The Agilent N8300A is a wireless networking test set and OFDMA measurement application software, forming a complete one-box transmitter and receiver test solution for Mobile WiMAX devices. With its superior specifications and fast manufacturing test time, this solution effectively meets the needs of cell phone, ODM and CM manufacturing engineers testing WiMAX mobile subscriber devices or modules that use IEEE 802.16e-2005.

"By partnering with NextWave we can enable faster calibration time, which provides considerable savings in both time and cost during handset production," said Niels Fache, Vice President and General Manager of Agilent's Mobile Broadband Division.

NextWave's NW2000 family of "No Compromise" WiMAX chipsets delivers high performance, very low power consumption and high levels of integration, enabling mobile WiMAX device manufacturers to create cutting edge, multimedia-centric end-user products.

"Agilent's leadership in manufacturing and conformance solutions will greatly benefit our NW2000 chipset customers in testing and verifying their designs," says Craig Miller, Vice President of Marketing for NextWave Wireless, Semiconductor business. "Our customers are eager to get their designs deployed in this fast-growing market, and we believe this collaboration will provide them an important capability to help them achieve their time-to-market goals."
