Powerwave Releases Three-sector Outdoor Wireless Coverage and Capacity Booster
(Product News, 2 Apr 2008)
Powerwave Technologies Inc. has expanded its its family of outdoor coverage and capacity systems with the introduction a three-sector, high-power booster system, which features an environment-friendly, energy efficient design, offering more compact footprint as opposed to competitive solutions by enabling operators to house equipment for three wireless sectors within a single micro-cabinet. Further space optimization is achieved through a reduction in the number of antennas, basestations (BTS) and feed lines required to provide 2G and 3G outdoor wireless coverage and capacity for dense urban cell cites and rural areas. The product is also designed to accommodate up to three MCPA modules, providing operators with the flexibility to support current and future coverage and capacity requirements.
Launched at the CTIA WIRELESS 2008 in Las Vegas, the three-sector booster system, when combined with Powerwave's Clean Site Intellimast Antenna Platform, offers network operators a "green" infrastructure solution. The system also leverages Powerwave's multi-carrier power amplifier (MCPA) technology, which offers industry-leading density, high efficiency and compatibility with multiple frequency bands.
Powerwave's new three-sector high power booster also leverages the company's high-efficiency Feed Forward (FF) MCPAs to improve overall network performance, extend use of existing assets, and increase overall subscriber satisfaction. The three-sector high power booster utilizes modular sub-assemblies that simplify maintenance, maximize uptime and reduce time-to-market and operational costs. The three-sector booster also offers an electronic management interface that uses an Ethernet connection for remote system configuration and monitoring to simplify site management from the operator's Network Operations Center (NOC).
