KeyOn Communications and Airspan Networks Sign WiMAX Agreement

(Business News & Technology News, 31 Mar 2008)

KeyOn Communications Holdings Inc. has signed an agreement with Airspan Networks Inc. to deploy advanced data services using Airspan's WiMAX solution for the 3.65GHz spectrum band.

"Broadening our service offering and building on our core competencies, KeyOn is delighted to break new ground in advancing the potential for WiMAX deployment in this spectrum," says Sid Ganju, EVP of Corporate Development and Strategy for KeyOn Communications. "We believe that Airspan offers the industry's most complete and technologically advanced range of WiMAX products in the 3.65GHz band, along with a comprehensive network management solution and capabilities to ensure voice quality. We are eager to confirm the viability of fixed and nomadic broadband wireless services using the WiMAX technology in one of our existing markets."

"We appreciate the opportunity to work with KeyOn Communications," comments Airspan's Vice President and General Manager of the Americas, Amit Ancikovsky. "We are excited about deploying WiMAX networks at 3.65GHz in partnership with KeyOn and, in the process, help KeyOn's communities benefit from the promise and potential of advanced WiMAX broadband services."

Under the agreement, KeyOn will deploy Airspan's WiMAX solution to provide coverage to over 13,000 households in Pahrump, Nevada. After the successful completion of the project, KeyOn plans to commercially market the services to its customers, augmenting its product service that currently includes fixed wireless data, VoIP and satellite video services. KeyOn also intends to evaluate the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services on the 3.65GHz WiMAX platform to provide an integrated voice and data solution to its customers.
