Andrew Upgrades Teletilt's Remote Electrical Tilt System

(Product News, 19 Mar 2008)

Andrew Wireless Solutions, a CommScope Inc. division focused on communications systems and products, has upgraded its Teletilt product family's remote electrical tilt (RET) system's components.

Andrew now manufactures all of its Teletilt system components and firmware to be compliant with Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) 1.1 and 2.0 modes, making them compatible with more existing and future tower equipment. This increase in compatibility should translate into increased cost savings for wireless operators, who can avoid replacing Teletilt components during new technology roll outs or upgrades at their cell sites.

Andrew has also introduced its new Antenna Network Management System (ANMS) Site Manager software interface, which enables operators to access their Teletilt-enabled sites from network centers anywhere in the world over an Ethernet connection. ANMS Site Manager gives operators routine, instant feedback of their network, allowing them to make easy adjustments to changing wireless traffic patterns, all from a remote location.

Andrew is offering ANMS Site Manager as an included feature with new purchases of its upgraded Teletilt rack mounted controller, the ATC300-1000. The new controller is both AISG 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 and Server Message Block (SMB) compliant and supports up to 32 AISG antenna line addresses in one unit. Site technicians and RF engineers can also utilize Andrew's new diagnostic tool, the ATTK200-KIT, for assistance in site installation and maintenance. The kit will identify any Teletilt-enabled antennas installed at the site and their configurations, making identification easier. The kit allows for testing and maintenance to be conducted without cutting into the RET cable, meaning another cost saving.
