CSR's Latest DSP Enables High-end Dual Microphone Noise Cancellation for Differentiated Low-cost Mono Headset Designs

(Product News, 5 Mar 2008)

CSR has launched BlueVox DSP, a low cost $6 eBOM Bluetooth mono headset design with enhanced DSP based Clear Voice Capture (CVC) echo and noise cancellation technology. BlueVox DSP is said to be the world's first ROM-based solution with an integrated DSP coprocessor and features AuriStream, CSR's low power voice CODEC for superior quality voice calls. With a bill of materials of just $6, CSR has designed BlueVox DSP with the richest feature set including single and dual microphone noise suppression and support for simultaneous connection to two devices.

The $6 reference design includes all the necessary hardware and software components, including CSR's proprietary CVC software. With the single microphone echo and noise suppression algorithm included and a licensed option to upgrade to the new dual microphone algorithm for superior noise suppression, being heard, whatever the surrounding noise is no longer a problem. The solution also incorporates AuriStream, CSR's high quality low power voice CODEC that provides a fixed line quality connection and is capable of a 30 percent reduction in power consumption compared with standard Bluetooth voice transmission methods.

Based on CSR's proven BlueCore5-Multimedia platform, BlueVox DSP benefits from the industry's lowest cost and highest performance figures. BlueCore5-Multimedia features a best in class audio CODEC with a signal to noise ratio of -95dB. The radio transmits at +8dBm and receives at -90dBm, which eliminates any interference and enhances range when taking a call.

BlueVox DSP supports v2.1 +EDR of the Bluetooth specification, offering significant enhancements to the end user experience for secure and simple pairing between devices. This solution also includes support for multiple connections, allowing a user to take calls from two mobile phones or a mobile phone and a VoIP dongle through a simple user interface.
