Rohde & Schwarz's Latest RF Switching Matrix Handles All Types of Automated Test Procedures
(Product News, 20 Feb 2008)
Rohde & Schwarz has launched its R&S OSP switching matrix, a modular switch and control platform for both manual and automatic switching of RF signals. Designed for universal applications, including simple RF switching all the way through RF switching involving complex EMC systems, the R&S OSP offers a simple way to make the complex test sequences required in R&D, conformance and performance testing and production tests fast, reliable and cost-effective.
Users who need to switch RF signals can configure different R&S OSP models and modules to suit their needs. The compact R&S OSP120 base and control unit forms the core of the platform. Its rear panel contains slots for various modules, and depending on the application's requirements—automotive, mobile radio, communications, military, EMC—suitable RF switch and control modules can be inserted into the R&S OSP120. This allows users to deploy the controllable switch platform to set up calibration systems, switch test instruments and amplifiers in a test system, or multiplex devices under test (DUTs), to name a few possible examples. When measuring electromagnetic interference or susceptibility, the R&S OSP can be used to switch signal paths between generators or test receivers, amplifiers and antennas.
Automated test procedures performed with the computer-controlled switch and control platform save time, while the few additional components in the compact test setup ensure reproducible and thus highly dependable measurements. The modular design employed by the R&S OSP makes for a safe investment because the control platform can be extended and expanded to meet future requirements. The plug & play concept eliminates complex installation work when changing modules.
