Coaxial Resonator VCO for Broadband Radio Equipment
(Product News, 13 Jul 2005)
Z-Communications, Inc. has introduced its CRO2645A for the broadband radio market. Using coaxial resonator technology, the device is suitable for point-to-multipoint radio systems by covering 2,615 MHz to 2,675 MHz in 0.5V to 4.5V DC range of tuning with desirable phase noise performance. This VCO provides a clean spectral signal of 79 dBc and 109 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz and 10 kHz offsets, respectively, while covering the 60 MHz bandwidth with an average tuning sensitivity of 23 MHz/V. The CRO2645A is designed to operate off a 5V DC supply while drawing 19 mA of current and provides the end user 3¡¾2 dBm of output power into a 50 §Ù load and over the temperature range of 10¡Æ to 85¡ÆC. In addition, the VCO¡¯s coaxial resonator technology minimizes the effects of microphonics. The CRO2645A suppresses the 2nd harmonic to -15dBc; it pushes 1 MHz within 5 percent of the nominal supply voltage; and it pulls 1 MHz with a 14 dB return loss, any phase. The CRO2645A comes in the company¡¯s industry standard MINI package measuring 0.50¡± x 0.50¡± x 0.22¡±.
