CSR and Telechips Partner on Design for Wi-Fi Photo Frame with Internet Radio
(Business News & Technology News, 28 Jan 2008)
Telechips' Wi-Fi enabled digital photo frame platform enables wireless connectivity using the integrated UniFi single-chip Wi-Fi technology of CSR. UniFi will provide users with the capability to send their favourite photos directly to an 8in LCD display and also to connect via Wi-Fi access points to provide wireless streaming of internet radio. The platform, based around CSR's UniFi and the TCC8300 media processor from Telechips, will drastically reduce the time to market for ODMs and will be available by the end of January 2008.
The platform runs on the most common operating system for multimedia devices, making it easy for customers to integrate and use. Telechips' platform will use CSR's UniFi to allow users to stream internet radio via Wi-Fi and supports music subscription services such as Rhapsody, ShoutCast, WM Audio and vTuner, providing access to thousands of songs via live broadcast or on demand access. Users will be able to display images trapped on their memory card or communicate via Wi-Fi with Flickr and other photo sharing websites such as Picasa to view online photo albums. The platform will also support RSS feeds from sources including Yahoo, MSN, CNN, BBC as well as displaying currency rates and traffic information.
