MediaTek Completes Acquisition of Analog Devices' Cellular Radio and Baseband Chip Operations

(Business News & Technology News, 23 Jan 2008)

MediaTek Inc. has completed the purchase of the assets related to the Analog Devices Inc. Othello radio and SoftFone baseband chipset product lines, as well as certain cellular handset baseband support operations, which was previously announced in September 2007. The total cash consideration is approximately $350 million. These product lines represented about $230 million in revenue for ADI, based on fiscal year 2006 financial results.

Through this acquisition, MediaTek will be able to strengthen its portfolio by obtaining key patents and intellectual property. Moreover, this acquisition will also enhance MediaTek's global operations and development in converging wireless technology in order to provide innovative solutions to its customers.
