ROHM Launches Charge Protection IC for Mobile USB Devices
(Product News, 21 Dec 2007)
ROHM has developed its USB charge protection IC to protect battery driven devices from damage due to excessive current or voltage surges during USB charging. The BD6040GUL features improved safety design and integrates high performance protection circuits, including low 125m¦¸ ON-resistance FET switch, 28V overvoltage lockout, undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection, startup delay, and temperature protection, into a 1.6x1.6mm² chip scale package (CSP) that reduces mounting area by 30 percent over conventional products.
Current consumption of 45µA makes it suitable for battery charging via USB or adapter for mobile phones, portable audio players, IC recorders, digital cameras, and handheld gaming devices.
