CTIA - The Wireless Association Welcomes Android to the Competitive Wireless World

(Business News & Technology News, 7 Nov 2007)

CTIA - The Wireless Association President and CEO Steve Largent issued the following statement in recognition of an announcement from the Open Handset Alliance:

"If ever there was evidence that so-called 'net neutrality' rules were not needed, today's news is it. Because the government has never dictated a single technology or business model, companies big and small are constantly entering the wireless marketplace to put forward innovative mobile products and services that consumers want and need.

"Because of today's announcement, it appears that wireless users will soon have yet another mobile operating system to choose from, not to mention an ever-expanding number of applications, providers and handsets.

"The winner in all of this activity is of course the wireless consumer, who each and every day is presented with new and more innovative products and services at lower and lower prices.

"This innovative, 'can-do' attitude is the essence of wireless and as such we welcome and celebrate today's announcement."
