Power-over-Ethernet Modules

( 1 Nov 2007 )

Phoenix Contact introduces industrial-strength Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) modules, which make it possible to use the Ethernet to transfer not only data, but also electricity. The modules make it quick and inexpensive to power end devices such as wireless LAN access points, IP telephones, webcams, Ethernet hubs and other appliances in locations where supplying power separately would be inconvenient.

The FL IF 2PSE-F module offers two PoE ports for the Modular Managed Switch (MMS). It is an "endspan" device with power sourcing equipment (PSE) integrated in the switch/hub. Depending on the specific requirements, users can freely combine eight to 24 ports in twisted pair, PoE and various glass fiber media. End devices with PoE can be monitored by a higher-level management system that is also capable of turning the devices on and off remotely.
