Microwave Absorber and Elastomer Isolator

( 1 Sep 2007 )

ECCOSORB MCS

Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products has released a new microwave absorber solution targeted at cavity resonance issues, and is suitable for wireless and other high-frequency applications. The ECCOSORB MCS is a magnetically loaded, non-conductive silicone rubber sheet that has a frequency range from 800MHz to 18GHz. Featuring high permittivity and permeability, as well as magnetic loss tangent, the ECOSORB MCS is ideal for cavity resonance dampening in military applications like radar systems. The product is also capable of handling temperatures up to 350°F.

ECCOPAD

Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products has also released a patented, thin elastomer isolator material that is targeted at the problem of RFID read on metal. The ECCOPAD, thinner than the usual foam spacers, is engineered with specific electromagnetic properties which serve to retune the tag antenna to the correct frequency, thereby enabling communication with the reader. Separating RFID tags from metal by a mere 0.1in, the ECOPAD isolator is available for use at HF (13.56MHz) and UHF (915MHz).
