TÜV Product Service Refocuses Its Cellular Handset Testing Business in the UK
(Business News & Technology News, 8 Aug 2007)
TÜV Product Service is reorganising its UK Cellular Handset testing business to concentrate on providing regulatory and related testing services to the GSM and WCDMA Handset markets.
Following a strategic review of its GSM cellular handset business, TÜV Product Service has decided to focus its UK division on providing regulatory compliance and closely related testing services like EMC, SAR, HAC, Safety, Radio, Audio, SIM, Environmental simulation and Battery assessments. However, TÜV Product Service's UK operations will continue to provide limited PTCRB and GCF conformance testing for GSM and 3G equipment as an Associate PTCRB Laboratory.
Craig Ormerod, TÜV Product Service's Business Director for Telecoms in the UK, commented: "This re-focuses our testing business away from PTCRB and GCF conformance testing to concentrate on the core competences of the TÜV Product Service business in providing compliance services to cellular handset customers and to all other areas of the global telecommunications market. In conjunction with BABT as a globally recognised independent certification body, we are one of a very few organizations in the world to provide a complete testing and certification service which covers worldwide regulatory market entry requirements, especially into Europe, the US and Canada."
