Aeroflex Launches New Entry-level Version of Digital Radio Test Set for Emerging Markets

(Product News, 7 Aug 2007)

Aeroflex has launched an entry-level version of its 6113 Digital Radio Test Set for testing mobile base stations, targeted primarily at emerging markets including Africa, South America and Eastern Europe. The entry-level version is being offered with one A-bis interface for full base station control and BER (bit error rate) measurements, encryption, support for two of the four GSM frequency bands and software support. The entry-level Aeroflex 6113 Digital Radio Test Set can be upgraded to a full system, if required.

Field portable and easy to use, more than 2,000 Aeroflex 6113 Digital Radio Test Sets have already been deployed worldwide; it is the industry-standard base station test tool among GSM operators. With options to control all major base station types, Aeroflex's 6113 Digital Radio Test Set provides a wide range of test and measurement functions to facilitate fast manual or automatic testing. Applications include installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, fault finding and final unit production testing.

"GSM is the technology of choice for mobile communications in emerging markets," said Ross Broadhurst, product marketing manager, Aeroflex Test Solutions. "We believe the entry-level version of the Aeroflex 6113 Digital Radio Test Set is likely to prove highly popular with engineering teams within operators and vendors in emerging markets who are responsible for base station evaluation, detailed fault-finding and regression testing of new software releases."
