(Product News, 2 Jul 2007)
ANADIGICS Inc. is shipping production volumes of the ANADIGICS AWT6223 UMTS/EDGE penta-band power amplifier (PA) module to Samsung for its SGH-I520 smartphone designed for the European market. The SGH-I520 is the first Samsung phone to use the Symbian OS Version 9.2 for speedy internet access.
"We are very pleased to once again partner with Samsung and have our 3G penta-band HELP2 UMTS and EDGE power amplifier selected for the SGH-I520 smartphone," said Dr. Bami Bastani. President and CEO, ANADIGICS. "ANADIGICS' line of wireless broadband products and strategic relationships with tier-one manufacturers like Samsung allows us to be a constant provider of feature-full 3G handsets for the user who wants to talk, email or surf the web from their mobile device."
The AWT6223 penta-band PA module incorporates ANADIGICS' second-generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP2) technology to reduce UMTS average power consumption by up to 50 percent. In WCDMA and HSPA modes, the power amplifier offers outstanding efficiencies of 41 percent at +28.5dBm and 21 percent at +16dBm, resulting in longer battery life and additional talk-time. The AWT6223 also includes a fully functional quad-band GSM/EDGE PA, with excellent efficiency in the GSM850/900 bands and DCS/PCS bands in both GSMK and 8PSK modes. ANADIGICS' multi-mode PAs use the company's exclusive InGaP-Plus technology, which integrates HBT and pHEMT devices on the same InGaP GaAs die. These PAs are manufactured using a materials set consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
