Themed "Creation, Integration and Development of the Mobile Phone Industry, Creating Infinite Business Opportunities", the 2007 International Mobile Phone Industry Exhibition (IMIE2007), to be held at the Binhai International Convention & Exhibition Center (BICEC) in Tianjin on May 18-20, has attracted both domestic and overseas mobile phone elites. Overseas exhibitors and buyers from 24 countries and regions, such as the U.S., Russia, India, Germany, Israel, Korea, Thailand and Bengal, have confirmed their attendance.
With its "mutual assured destruction" effects to industry players in the long term, price war is no longer a viable strategic move to enhance competitiveness. Mobile phone manufacturers are now more focused on differentiation by providing value-added products and services.
China's telecommunications industry, which is going to a new era of innovations on technologies and business models under the 3G technology wave, is expected to be highlighted in this year's IMIE. Among the Chinese exhibitors who will be demonstrating their latest applications in the service experience zones as well as TD-SCDMA terminal products are China Mobile and China Unicom¡ªboth associated with TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance (TDIA).
Chip giants such as Qualcomm, Freescale, Intel and Infineon will meet in Tianjin for the first time, as well as Symbian, the world's biggest provider of operating systems for smart phones, are also showcasing their capabilities at the show. Meanwhile, local chip companies such as Chongyou, Commit, and Chipnuts will also present and announce their latest chip technologies and solutions, while Maode (Chongqing), China's largest mobile storage manufacturer, will join the IMIE for the first time.
Keynote speakers, who will talk on topics including "Mobile Entertainment Forum", "China Cellphone Component Summit", "Global Purchasing Meeting" and "Biz-matching" are:
