AMIMON Appoints Dr. David Lee to Its Board of Directors

(Business News & Technology News, 27 Apr 2007)

AMIMON INC., an emerging leader in semiconductor technology for wireless transmission of high-definition (HD) video, has announced Dr. David Lee's appointment as a member of its board of directors.

AMIMON's wireless high-definition interface (WHDI) technology enables wireless transmission of uncompressed high-definition video streams in the 5GHz unlicensed band. WHDI enables applications such as wireless flat-panel HDTVs, wireless projectors and wireless A/V receivers.

Dr. Lee is best known as the founder and former CEO of Silicon Image. As CEO of Silicon Image he was the driving force behind HDMI, the dominant digital video interface in HDTVs and CE devices. To date, more than 400 companies have become HDMI adopters, and more than 60 million devices featuring HDMI were shipped in 2006.

"I have been examining various wireless HDTV technologies and have found WHDI to be the only one to meet the stringent requirements of the CE industry," said Dr. Lee. "WHDI is gaining strong industry support as the technology of choice for wirelessly connecting video sources to displays."

"During his career, Dr. Lee has had the keen ability to understand industry needs long before the rest of the market," said Dr. Yoav Nissan-Cohen, AMIMON chairman and CEO. "Dr. Lee will contribute invaluable expertise and strengthen AMIMON's drive to establish WHDI as an industry standard."

Prior to launching Silicon Image in 1995, Dr. Lee was a principal investigator at Sun Research Laboratories; he also spent six years on the research staff at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), leading a number of projects integrating high-resolution display technology with high-performance computing. Dr. Lee received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from UC Berkeley.
