SeaMobile Delivers Wireless Services to Geolink's Maritime Customer AIDA Cruises

(Business News & Technology News, 25 Apr 2007)

SeaMobile Enterprises, a global service provider of at-sea communications, connectivity and content services, has successfully launched wireless service aboard AIDAdiva, the newest vessel in the AIDA Cruises fleet. Geolink, a Paris-based company acquired by SeaMobile earlier this year, already provides its OceanCell wireless service on the other four AIDA cruise ships. After the acquisition, SeaMobile upgraded the OceanCell wireless technology platform on the existing AIDA ships and is now adding service to the AIDAdiva.

"As Germany's number one cruise line in terms of sales and passengers, AIDA Cruises continues to be a destination for holidaying at sea," said Capt. Burkhard Mueller, Vice President Fleet Service of AIDA Cruises. "Because of our commitment to providing the best experience for guests aboard our ships, we continue to choose SeaMobile company, Geolink, to provide simple-to-use, superb communication for our guests to stay connected with family, friends and business associates while at sea."

The OceanCell communications service will allow guests and staff aboard AIDAdiva to use their own cellular phones while at sea. SeaMobile's proprietary technology is a sophisticated IP/software based solution that works with any type of GSM wireless phone used by the guest when accessing the SeaMobile network. This allows virtually anyone aboard any vessel at sea to use voice services available through their wireless home carrier, just as they would on land. SeaMobile has successfully established roaming agreements with major wireless carriers throughout the world to provide transparent connectivity for wireless services. Usage charges for appear on the user's wireless bill from their home carrier.

"We are pleased to continue to partner with AIDA Cruises in providing communication services for guests aboard all their ships," said Pierre Macquet, CEO, Geolink, a SeaMobile company. "By using the SeaMobile technology platform, AIDA's guests and staff will be accessing a state-of-the-art GSM cellular switch located at SeaMobile's teleport. AIDAdiva is now equipped with voice services for guests who will enjoy setting sail on this newest AIDA ship for the first time."

AIDA Cruises other ships, which are all equipped with the upgraded SeaMobile technology platform to deliver Geolink's OceanCell wireless service, include AIDAcara, AIDAvita and AIDAaura.
