Microtune's 3-in-1 Tuner Exceeds RF Receiver Performance Specifications in NTIA Converter Box Rule

(Product News, 3 Apr 2007)

Microtune Inc.'s 3-in-1 tuner— the MicroTuner MT2131—exceeds the radio frequency (RF) performance requirements specified by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in its recently issued final rule for the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program.

"By deploying our 3-in-1 tuner, manufacturers can be assured that their set-top converter boxes will comply with the RF technical specifications required for technical approval under the NTIA's converter box coupon program," said James A. Fontaine, President and CEO, Microtune. "Our MT2131 tuner, which supports U.S. analog, digital and cable standards, was engineered to drive very high-end digital TV reception quality into the cost-sensitive consumer TV mass market."

The MT2131 tuner exceeds the minimum requirements for RF phase noise, adjacent channel rejection, taboo channel rejection, and minimum and maximum input signal levels—the key tuner-related parameters specified for receiver performance in a NTIA coupon-eligible converter box (CECB).
