Ericsson and Turkcell have signed a contract to enhance network capacity in Turkey. Turkcell—Turkey's leading mobile operator with more than 12,000 base stations—provides network coverage to 97.2 percent of the nation's population. The agreement with Ericsson will further expand Turkcell's voice and data traffic capacity, and help increase the diversity of services it offers to customers.
"Turkcell initiated mobile communications in Turkey together with Ericsson. Having maintained our quality, capacity, and service diversity for 13 years, Turkcell is going to carry on making investments to increase the satisfaction and loyalty of its customers by delivering services that will ease and enrich their lives and help make them more productive," said Süreyya Ciliv, CEO, Turkcell. "We regard our role as being not only to facilitate GSM but also overall communications and technology."
"This contract represents a continuation of our long-standing partnership with Turkcell," said Jan Kemvall, President, Ericsson Turkey. "It also reaffirms our leading market position through the provision of a fast, high-quality solution using next-generation technologies."
