Plastic SOD923 package provides board space savings
(Product News, 6 Mar 2007)
Vishay Intertechnology has released an ESD single-line protection diode in a tiny plastic SOD923 package.
With a compact 0.6x1mm footprint and an extremely low profile of 0.4mm, the VESD05A1B-02Z is designed to save board space and provide ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, automotive, and medical applications.
The device features a low typical capacitance of 12pF at 2.5V and 19pF at 0V (ground level), and a low maximum leakage current of 0.1μA at 5V. The ESD protection diode offers breakthrough voltages of 7.5V (maximum) and 6.8V (typical) at 1mA, and a maximum clamping voltage of 11V at 3A and 9.5V at 1A.
The VESD05A1B-02Z provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC6100042 (ESD) at 20kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC6100045 (lightning) from 3A (tp=8/20μs). The device is also compliant with RoHS2002/95/EC and WEEE2002/96/EC.
Samples of the new ESD single-line protection diode in the compact SOD923 package are available now. Production quantities will be available in Q1 2007, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders.
