Agilent Technologies launches integrated mobile WiMAX test set

(Product News, 13 Feb 2007)

Agilent Technologies Inc.'s E6651A Mobile WiMAX Test Set enables designers and manufacturers to accelerate time-to-market for their IEEE802.16e subscriber products. Created in conjunction with Innowireless Co. Ltd, the test equipment is the first in an ongoing collaborative effort that combines the engineering leadership of both companies. The E6651A Mobile WiMAX Test Set is being demonstrated at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona this week.

"The E6651A Mobile WiMAX Test Set will allow WiMAX subscriber station designers and manufacturers to rapidly move from development to volume production, and to improve the integrity and quality of their products while reducing cost," said Ron Nersesian, vice president of Agilent's Wireless Business Unit. "By working with Innowireless, we continue to expand our extensive portfolio of WiMAX test solutions for R&D and manufacturing. The E6651A complements Agilent's leading WiMAX solutions for signal analyzers, signal generators and EDA software."

The Agilent E6651A incorporates a full suite of RF measurements for characterization, calibration and verification purposes. The Mobile WiMAX test set can be extended to allow engineers to test, stress and debug IP data handling capabilities of their designs in a controlled laboratory environment.

"Teaming with Agilent, Innowireless will continue to enhance the cutting-edge capability of this new platform," said JongTae Chung, chairman and CEO, Innowireless. "It is imperative to provide worldwide high-quality, cost-effective test solutions to the designers and manufacturers contributing to the industrialization of WiMAX technologies."

The E6651A represents a significant breakthrough in mobile WiMAX testing, with the flexibility to configure a wide range of network parameters through an easy-to-use Windows XP user interface, and high-speed, precision-accuracy measurements. It incorporates flexible base station emulation and parametric tests into one integrated unit and extends Agilent's unmatched portfolio of WiMAX test solution for R&D, verification and manufacturing customers.
