Power Amplifier for WiMAX Basestation Applications

( 1 Jan 2007 )

Z-Communications Inc. announces a high linearity power amplifier (5W average) for emerging 802.16 WiMAX basestation applications. The first in the series of power amplifier products for WiMAX, the ZPA3436-5W, operates over 3.4 to 3.6GHz band with the typical gain of 46dB and 37dBm OFDM output power for 64 QAM, coding, 3.5MHz channel bandwidth and 256 carriers. The design, incorporating the latest in high power device technology, achieves Error Victor Magnitude (EVM) performance of 2% at 37dBm linear output power. The power amplifier is biased at 28V and draws about 3.5A DC current. The ZPA3436-5W measures 9 × 4 × 1.5 inches typical without external heatsink.
