National Semiconductor’s Simply Blue Module Supports Bluetooth 2.0
(Product News, 9 Jul 2005)
National Semiconductor Corporation has released LMX9830, a Bluetooth module that simplifies RF board design, from its Simply Blue wireless family. The LMX9830 module eliminates cables in advanced data and voice applications for the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) market as well as various handsfree devices.
National’s LMX9830 embeds a complete Bluetooth node including a CMOS radio transceiver that delivers RF integration, a protocol stack, application-specific profiles and a command interpreter for communication with the host using the on-chip UART interface. The LMX9830 also supports embedded data and voice-oriented applications by enabling multiple connections with maximum data throughput and synchronous audio links (SCO). The LMX9830, in a 60-pin FBGA package measuring 9mm by 6mm by 1.2mm, combines a Bluetooth transceiver with a baseband processor. The baseband processor features Bluetooth 2.0 functionality and firmware and an enhanced command structure. In addition, it combines on-chip, ROM-based memory with a seamless memory patch controller and flexible patch RAM.
