Renesas Technology has announced two tunable antenna varicap diodes for digital terrestrial broadcast capable portable and mobile terminals: the RKV653KP featuring a small size of 0.6 mm× 0.3 mm, and the extended-package RKV653KL. A tunable antenna is an antenna that can change resonance frequencies for receiving of wide range frequency bands. As this makes it possible to handle the frequencies used in digital terrestrial broadcasting for portable and mobile terminals (One-Seg broadcasting) with a small package, a tunable antenna advances an incorporation of antenna into One-Seg broadcast capable mobile phones. Renesas Technology has developed RKV653KP and RKV653KL that meet the stringent specification requirements for embedded varicap diodes for changing resonance frequency in antenna. These two products can be used in a tunable antenna for One-Seg broadcasting and other digital broadcasting services such as DVB-H and DMB.
