Kontron, Surf Collaborate on VoIP, Media-over-Packet Solutions
(Business News & Technology News, 3 Aug 2006)
Kontron and Surf Communication Solutions (Surf) have entered into a partnership to jointly develop and market Advanced TCA, Advanced MC, and Micro TCA-based convergent media solutions to the communications market.
In the first phase of the joint venture, Surf will reportedly integrate and validate its AMC-DSP module, the Surfrider/AMC which runs Surf's Surf UP media processing enabling technology, with Kontron's Advanced TCA carrier board, the AT8400 which features four Advanced MC bays, PCI-Express and gigabit ethernet switching, and an SAS controller.
The companies inform that the combined Kontron/Surf solution is a highly-scalable, modular building block for convergent Advanced TCA, Micro TCA and proprietary communications systems, such as IP-to-IP and TDM (Mobile)-to-IP media gateways, media-enhanced servers, session border controllers, CTI applications (such as voice and video mail), conference bridges, wireless base stations, iPBX and softswitches.
