Elan Digital Releases USB-to-SDIO Host Bridge Chip

(Product News, 30 Nov 2009)

Elan Digital Systems, specialist innovators in SDIO design, announce the release of its latest connectivity device, the VUB300. This device provides a single SD/SDIO port via USB 2.0 system interface.

A unique and important user benefit of the VUB300 is its universal support for any SDIO device, allowing it to run with any manufacturer’s existing driver & application software without the need for any modification.

Key features of the device include low power, small package size (6 x 6mm QFN) and high data throughput.

This device is primarily aimed at smartphone and portable Internet devices as well as standard notebook computers.

A growing number of wireless modem chipsets are moving to SDIO as the preferred data interface and the VUB300 is the ideal solution when, for example the target system has no spare SDIO ports available.

A complete development kit is available from Elan including hardware, device drivers for all major OS and full documentation.
