Largest Portfolio of I2C-Compatible, Multichannel, 8-/10-/12-Bit ADCs Delivers Maximum Flexibility

(Product News, 11 Nov 2009)

Broadening its industry-leading portfolio of I2C-based ADCs, Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX11600-MAX11617 multichannel ADCs with an internal voltage reference. Available in 188ksps, 8-bit (MAX11600-05) and 94.4ksps, 10-/12-bit (MAX11606-17) configurations, this unique family of ADCs provides designers with the most flexibility in selecting resolution, channel count (4/8/12), supply voltage (2.7V to 3.6V/4.5V to 5.5V), and reference voltage (2.048V/4.096V). In addition, all devices in this family are software configurable to support either unipolar or bipolar inputs, as well as single-ended or differential operation. Pin compatibility between many of the devices allows designers to change resolution and channel count without redesigning their board or control software. The MAX11600-17 are ideal for automotive designs, portable/battery-powered electronics, solar-powered systems, and system-monitoring applications.

This family of ADCs also provides impressive low-power operation, consuming as little as 350microamps at 188ksps or 8microamps at data rates of 10ksps or less. AutoShutdown technology powers down the ADCs between conversions, reducing supply current to less than 1microamp at low throughput rates.
The MAX11602-05, MAX11608-11, MAX11614-17 are packaged in a pin-compatible 16-pin QSOP, the MAX11606/07/12/13 in an 8-pin microMAX(R), and the MAX11600/01 in an 8-pin SOT23. All parts are fully specified for operation over the -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius extended temperature range.
