Semaphore Now Shipping Wireless Monitor That Can Halve the Cost of Wireless SCADA

(Business News & Technology News, 22 Sep 2009)

Semaphore, a CSE Global company, has commenced shipments of its T-BOX WM Wireless Monitor. The Monitor can provide significant cost savings of up to 50% over other wireless SCADA monitoring solutions. First applications are through OEM suppliers of remote process monitoring systems.
Ultra-low power draw allows use of a lithium battery, which is far more economical than AC or DC power systems. For remote sites that require battery back-up, costs of high-capacity lead acid cell batteries and large enclosures could be prohibitive. The Wireless Monitor normally uses a single battery, and an optional second battery offers high reliability when redundancy is required.
Standard hardware also reduces interfacing costs with instruments for measurement of flow, level and pressure. Since the Wireless Monitor is able to provide power to analog transmitters on 4 - 20 mA current loops, separate hardware for DC/DC conversion or input multiplexing is not required.
A broad selection of wireless communications devices ensures that all remote sites can be reached without the need for integration of external hardware. Using push messaging via e-mail, text or IP communications, the Wireless Monitor best utilizes inexpensive public networks and informs multiple recipients of alarms, live conditions and historical data logs.
The Wireless Monitor is available in a compact weatherproof enclosure, which can easily be transported for installations at remote sites including tanks and towers.
The Wireless Monitor is fully compatible with Semaphore's T-BOX family of controller and RTU products. T-BOX is the first IP-based telemetry solution that enables the complete integration of SCADA, control and communications functionality in one rugged package. It leverages easy-to-use Web technologies and inexpensive public networks for decentralized monitoring and control systems. T-BOX products offer up to 50% less total installed cost per point versus traditional SCADA/ PLC systems, and permit greater organizational access to data through automated reporting and browser software.
Semaphore's T-BOX RTU products are ideal for a broad range of remote monitoring and control applications in the broadcast, infrastructure management, oil & gas, power, transportation and water treatment and distribution industries.
