Bomar’s 8GHz PCB Connector Series Optimized for Extreme Bandwidth HDTV Transmission
(Product News, 23 Jun 2009)
Bomar Interconnect Products Inc., a manufacturer and designer of quality connectors and accessories for RF, video and broadcast transmission, released the female Type BMR connector, the first member of Bomar’s 8GHz BMR Series of PC board connectors for wideband HDTV transmission. The result of a three-year design initiative, the BMR Series boasts proprietary connector technology to meet the signal quality requirements of large-scale satellite TV applications, and has no equivalent in today’s connector market. BMR connectors are RF engineers’ ideal interface solution for Dish Network and Direct TV applications in which signals are deployed throughout such facilities as office complexes, hotels, hospitals, colleges, and universities.
Traditional 3GHz Type F connectors are adequate for many HDTV applications, but cannot accommodate the extreme bandwidth required when satellite signals are to be split. BMR connectors, when employed in RF circuits designed for them, virtually ensure the integrity of split signals due to their proprietary engineering. The new 75-ohm interfaces are rated to 8GHz (test well to 10GHz), and engineered to only mate with 8GHz parts. They further are designed to mount to the underside of the PCB to support optimal grounding and inductance, and feature an open-top design and contact pin placement to enable low overall capacitance.
