Ha-VIS RFID: The Fully Integrated RFID System

(Product News, 16 Jun 2009)

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a key technology for efficient company processes. And only fully integrated RFID systems will deliver the expected user benefits, as complete integration ensures simple, safe and cost efficient RFID solutions.

Ha-VIS RFID is the HARTING RFID system that significantly simplifies the realization of RFID projects. The Ha-VIS RFID system features readers that perform key functions already on location. Thanks to efficient data pre-processing, the readers that take loads off network traffic on company-wide Ethernet networks and enable dynamic performance through to high speed applications such as baggage conveying systems. In order to integrate virtually all RFID transponders the readers provide UHF and HF technology as standard features. They are supported by the Ha-VIS RFID Suite, an efficient software solution that allows scaling of RFID solutions from individual readers through to corporate solutions across different locations. Ha-VIS RFID Suite administrates the interfaces to the RFID reading devices and printers, as well as to barcode readers, sensors and controllers. The Ha-VIS RFID Suite is based on the .NETplatform and offers service oriented architecture in which an optional number of company applications can draw on the processed data.

Ha-VIS RFID reduces the data flow in the Ethernet network and enables real-time response to RFID event data. Advanced, leading edge administration and security modules minimize downtimes and reduce the operating costs of RFID solutions.

The processed data can be conveniently integrated into all company solutions, as the plug and play architecture of the Ha-VIS RFID Suite has been designed to support all the relevant current hardware, standards and protocols. The easy integration of new hardware or new standards into the architecture of the Ha-VIS RFID Suite ensures that companies are able to exploit the greatest possible benefits of their RFID investments and creates long term investment security. Developers and system integrators benefit from the tool kit provided, as well as from central network administration and user friendly interfaces that translates as convenient and extremely accelerated development and maintenance of high performance RFID solutions.

With a look to the RFID transponders, HARTING has also enhanced user benefits thanks to an extremely rugged design and construction type that can even be deployed on metal surfaces.
