Siano Brings Mobile TV to NVIDIA's Tegra Platform

Siano Mobile Silicon, a global mobile digital TV (MDTV) chip maker, announced that its multi-standard mobile TV receiver chip, the SMS1150, has been selected by NVIDIA, a world leader in visual computing technologies, to power its new reference platform. Embedded within NVIDIA's Tegra netbook reference design, Siano enables high-resolution mobile TV, complimenting additional multimedia-rich features of the Tegra netbook platform.

The platform is based on the Windows CE operating system and offers, in addition to mobile TV, an array of advanced features: full desktop web browsing, including streaming video, ultra-low power audio playback, and up to 1080p HD video playback. Siano's SMS1150 multi-standard receiver chip, embedded inside the new platform, enables both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) mobile TV for portable devices. Supporting broadcast of DVB-T, ISDB-T, DVB-H, DAB, T-DMB and CMMB TV signals, Siano's global footprint of MDTV reception enables NVIDIA to extend its market reach of the Tegra platform.
