NXP Launches LIN 2.1-certified Transceivers

( 1 Mar 2009 )

NXP Semiconductors' TJA1021 transceiver has been certified according to the recently established LIN 2.1 specification. As the industry's first certified LIN 2.1 compliant transceiver, the TJA1021 was tested against new criteria released in October 2008. LIN 2.1 represents the next evolution of the Local Interconnect Network standard and incorporates new criteria including enhanced transport layer criteria, addition of diagnostics and backwards compatibility. The NXP TJA1021 sets a new standard in ESD performance with 8kV HBM and 6kV, in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard. This level of performance enables manufacturers to build electronic control units without incorporating external ESD protection, thus reducing overall system costs.
